Dear members,
First of all – give yourself a pat on the back. Go on, you deserve it after spending the past two months locked in the house with the kids! We hope you’ve survived it and are all safe and well.
We know that many of you will be anxious to borrow new toys now that the restrictions are easing – and we’re looking forward to having you back. Unfortunately, the ongoing restrictions in Victoria mean it’s not possible for us to open our doors just yet. But we know the day is getting closer, and we’re putting all our efforts towards this.
The committee is busy examining options for how we can open for toy borrowing and returns in a way that ensures the safety of our members, volunteers and staff. Importantly, we will have to enforce social distancing and strict hygiene measures. We are still working through the best way to make this happen and what it will require in terms of resources.
COVID-19 has taken a toll on all of us, including the toy library. We are urgently applying for grants and other financial support as we’ve lost our major income streams during the shutdown. We still have a lot of work to ensure a safe reopening, and will keep you updated as this progresses.
In a welcome bit of good news, we’ve added some amazing new toys to the collection from previously acquired grants. Be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram for these.
Please take care of yourselves and your toys, and keep playing. We hope to see you back at the toy library soon.
