Meet Jo - Our Roster Coordinator

How long have you been a TL member? For about six months (since my son was six months old).

Why did you join?

To offer a variety of play opportunities at home and keep things interesting for our baby (and us!). We're also keen to reduce waste and save money by borrowing items that we'll only use for a short period of time.

What do you like about the Toy Library?

I love getting new play ideas and inspiration from the variety of toys on offer. I also feel more connected to the local community when I go in and meet new people.

What is your committee role and what does it involve?

I'm the duty roster co-ordinator - which means I try and make sure we have enough members helping out for each open session so returning & borrowing items is easy for everyone.

Do you have a favourite toy/type of toy?

I love borrowing big items from the library - at the moment we have a big red car filled with balls and our son just loves it! Later I'm looking forward to introducing him to pretend play toys and turn-taking games.

Any tips for new members?

Honestly, coming in to do duty for a couple of hours is a great way to check out what toys are on offer. You can also save toys to borrow as they're returned! If you're short on time, I'd recommend checking out items on the online catalogue to plan what you'd like to borrow.
