As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, Carnegie toy library seeks to support and nurture the next generation. Families who welcomed new babies during the pandemic were unable to socialise normally during lockdowns, heightening the sense of isolation with possible consequences for their babies’ development.
Thanks to the 2022 Glen Eira Council Community Grants Program, we have revitalised our baby and toddler toys to engage these COVID generation babies in the wonder of play. We have purchased a selection of new toys such as train sets, animal toys, sensory toys and baby play sets to welcome new members to our library.
Here's a sample of the toys that have been added to our collection.
Baby play
Toys specially designed for the first year of a child’s life that are safe, stimulating and developmentally appropriate.
Sensory
Toys which engage a range of senses and skills including gross and fine motor skills.
Train sets, boats and ships
Transport toys are great for encouraging narrative skills, imagination and language development.
